LET’S GROOVE & MOVE| House Edition
Let’s Groove & Move is a series of events dedicated to embracing the diverse world of street dance that is inseparable from nightclub culture while creating a space for community, interaction and a deeper appreciation of music and its history.
Expect to experience different perspectives on the diverse styles, movements, rhythms, and histories that continue to evolve within street dance. Each edition focuses on a specific music genre, its foundations and street dance styles that are commonly associated with it.
The Movement: Every event features experienced dancers within styles associated with the focus genre. Through showcases, battles and cyphers, they share the rhythm, technicality, feeling and intention behind the styles including Breaking, Popping, Locking, Hip Hop, and House.
The Social Floor: Let’s Groove & Move is meant to be a shared experience for everyone. Beyond the showcases, battles and cyphers, the dance floor is open, as it has always been, to everyone in the room. Social dancing, and spontaneous moments remain the heartbeat of the night.
The Sound: The music played by the DJs is a wide selection of classics, deep cuts and defining records within the genre for both the showcases and battles as well as the open dance floor, keeping everyone grooving and moving.
The Master of Ceremonies: The important bridge between the music and the dance floor. The MC has always been more than just a voice on the mic, guiding the energy of the room, providing meaning and context behind the event, all while keeping everyone engaged and included.
Volume 2: House Edition
House music grew out of the underground dance scenes of the late 1970s and early 1980s, particularly in Chicago and New York, with roots in Black, Latino and queer communities. At legendary nightclubs such as the Warehouse and Music Box in Chicago, DJs like Frankie Knuckles and Ron Hardy creatively mixed disco, soul, funk, African music and electronic sounds, ultimately shaping what became known as house music.
Parties at The Loft and the legendary Paradise Garage over in New York with Larry Levan among the DJs, helped shape the music and club culture that influenced house. Across both cities, these spaces brought people together through music and dance, creating room for community, escapism and self-expression.
As disco became increasingly commercialised, it also faced a growing backlash, with Disco Demolition Night in Chicago in 1979 being a defining moment. Disco’s spirit, however, lived on in the underground clubs and dance floors that helped give rise to house. Frankie Knuckles, also known as the Godfather of House, would later describe house music as “disco’s revenge.”
𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 House Dance
House dance is rooted in a deep connection with the music, social dancing, improvisation and the exchange between dancers. The style draws on a diverse range of influences, including capoeira, salsa, hip hop, funk dance styles and other forms of street and club dance, as dancers brought their own movements and experiences onto the dance floor.
Over time, House dance has developed a broad vocabulary of movement, ranging from intricate footwork to flowing floor movements. Yet it remains rooted in freedom to interpret the music and express yourself through movement.

Let’s Groove returns for a special edition featuring Berlin’s Soundstream, who for over two decades has created some of house music’s most unmistakable dance floor records. Joining him behind the decks are Jonas Melles and MON.DEE. Four hours, three selectors, one dance floor.
✩ 𝐒𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐌 (𝐃𝐄) ✩
Native Berliner Frank Timm, better known as Soundstream, grew up on records by George Benson and Chic from his American stepfather’s collection. He first heard Technotronic’s “Pump Up the Jam” on the radio in 1989, just as the Berlin Wall was coming down and house music was reaching the city in full force. In the 90s, he became immersed in Berlin’s electronic music scene through the influential Hard Wax record shop and Tresor club. There, he discovered his love of the chopped-and-screwed energy of Chicago house and the groove of New York, influences that would shape his production style of tightly chopping and sampling disco and funk over pummeling kicks.
From early Soundhack releases and 1999’s “Good Soul” to dance floor favourites such as “Live Goes On,” “Bass Affairs” and “Love Remedy,” as well as his recent triple album Disco Fantasy, his records have become staples for disco heads as well as house DJs and producers.
After developing his craft as a DJ at the original Tresor and Ostgut, Soundstream has played Berghain / Panorama Bar around 200 times since the club opened in 2004. A look into his bag reveals lovely disco 12-inches, dirty Chicago house, immortal club classics and fresh discoveries, all blended, cut and mixed with unmistakable style, grace and his trademark smile. Soundstream doesn’t cater much to the world of social media hype and vacuous musical trends. Rather, like all great musicians, he lets the music do the talking.

Since 2009, Jonas Melles has been digging deep into electronic music, refining a sound that now lives somewhere between groove-driven Disco and soulful House. With appearances across Scandinavia and a catalogue of well-received edits and remixes behind him, he brings years of experience to every set without losing sight of what matters most, moving the people on the dance floor. Expect warm basslines, rolling percussion and carefully selected music that balances energy with emotion. No gimmicks, just great music and plenty of groove.

Let’s Groove founder MON.DEE has a deep-rooted passion for Soul and R&B. His approach as a DJ traces the lineage of these genres from the foundations of 60s and 70s Soul and Funk, through the Disco era and into House, New Jack Swing and other defining sounds of the 1990s.
Driven by a curiosity for connecting dots across different eras, he often blends iconic samples with the earlier records that inspired them, while exploring how these same foundations continue to shape contemporary music. In doing so, he creates a dance floor experience rooted in both nostalgia and discovery.
